Therapy dog training

therapy dog training
Is your dog a cuddler ? Does she love to meet people and snuggle with them? Maybe she can brighten a patient’s day at a local hospital or nursing home. Therapy dogs provide positive interaction for people at various care facilities. Dogs are wonderful for helping patients become less withdrawn and happier.

A therapy dog must have good manners and general obedience training, and be neat and well-groomed. Your dog must like having strangers pet her and should be calm in strange situations. Usually passing some type of temperament test, such as the AKC CGC test, is required by therapy dog training organizations.

How do you get involved in therapy dog training? Contact local hospitals and nursing home facilities to find out who runs their therapy dog program and get in contact with that person. Or contact the delta Society or Therapy Dogs International for more information.

Just for an additional info. Training would be easy to handle if you already established your role as a leader. Based on experience as a trainer, everything goes absolutely smooooooth afterwards. :D
